The browser for people who make things.

Cue is built on Chromium, so every site works the way it does in Chrome. On top of that it adds a volume knob on every tab, your personal and school logins side by side, split views, and a clean stage window to share in Zoom, Meet or OBS.

What it does

A free browser for creators: a volume knob on every tab, two logins side by side, split views, an On Air stage for Zoom and OBS, and a door for AI agents.

A volume knob on every tab.

Hover the speaker on any tab and drag. A tab that is too loud comes down without touching the page, and starting one video pauses the other tab that was playing.

Your accounts, kept apart.

Personal and school logins live in separate containers, so two Gmails and two Instagrams stay signed in at once. Vanish tabs keep nothing on disk.

Preview and On Air.

Cue a tab, press TAKE, and it appears in the Cue Stage window at 1920x1080. Share that one window in Zoom, Meet or OBS and nobody watches you hunt for tabs.

Split views and Spaces.

Two side by side, top and bottom, three columns or a grid of four, with synced scrolling. Teach, Create, Business and Build each keep their own tabs, login and layout.

Built for AI agents.

A local, token-protected door and an MCP server let Claude Code and Codex open tabs, read, click and type using your logins, while private tabs and the tab that is on air stay out of reach. Every call is logged.

Kits for the work.

Speed without changing pitch, A-B loop and transpose on any video. Whole-page pictures, GIFs, timestamp links and frame grabs. Colour picker, palette, font finder and Boards that keep every image's source.

Honest expectations

Cue is free and open source under GPL-3.0, for Apple silicon Macs on macOS 13 or later. It was built and tested on one studio Mac. It is Chromium through Electron, not our own browser engine yet, so passkeys are not available and Chrome extensions that rely on Chrome's own toolbar may not work. The Windows and Linux builds come from GitHub Actions and are not code-signed.

What's new

  • Maintenance release.

Known issues

  • Passkeys are not supported; that needs Apple's browser permission or our own Chromium build.
  • The cache limit is per login rather than per site.
  • Simple Chrome extensions copy in and work; ones that need Chrome's own toolbar APIs may not.
  • Importing Safari bookmarks needs Full Disk Access for Cue in System Settings, because macOS protects the Safari folder. Chrome, Helium, Brave, Edge and Arc import without it.
  • Windows and Linux builds come from GitHub Actions and are not code-signed yet.

FAQ

Will my sites and logins work?

Cue is Chromium, the same engine as Chrome, so sites behave the way they do in Chrome. Move In brings over bookmarks, history, open tabs, passwords and sign-ins from Helium, Chrome, Brave, Edge and Arc, and bookmarks from Safari. Your old browser is left untouched.

Where are my passwords kept?

In your Mac's own keychain, per login, with optional auto sign-in for a site you choose. Passwords are never filled in a Vanish tab or in a tab an AI agent is driving.

Can an AI agent see everything?

No. The agent door is on your own machine, needs a token, and cannot touch private tabs, Cue's own pages or the tab that is on air. Every call it makes is written to a log you can read.

Is it really free?

Yes, free and open source under GPL-3.0. The code is public at github.com/jasonzacmusic/cue.
