What it does

Held chords that move with you.
Chord Movement keeps a held voicing in place, moves it in octaves with your register, or moves the whole shape in parallel with your melody while keeping its inversion and spacing.

Sixteen factory shapes and eight personal slots, each recalled by a MIDI note or CC button from a keyboard, controller or foot switch.
A natural stage sound.
The Stage Natural preset follows your dynamics and keeps the character of your voice. Lead, harmony and synth each have their own volume and mute, and a bypass returns your dry voice.
A bass synth in the app.
The Chorale app also turns a bass or other instrument into a synth line, with 28 sounds, its own pitch detector and gate, and an arpeggiator.
In your DAW.
As an AU or VST3, microphone audio and keyboard MIDI go in and harmony audio comes out. The synth section is part of the standalone app.
Honest expectations
Chorale is free for Macs on macOS 11 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. It was built and tested on one studio Mac. Harmony voices are pitch-shifted copies of your voice, not separate singers: breaths, very low notes and large intervals can show artifacts. Your dry voice passes with no added processing delay, but your audio interface still adds its own buffer delay, and the harmony voices add a little more.
What's new
- **Hold keys:** played notes stay in their actual registers.
- **Follow register:** the entire held voicing moves in octaves with your sung register. It preserves its chord pitch classes and inversion. Hysteresis prevents repeated octave changes near the register boundary.
- **Move in parallel:** the entire held voicing moves by the singer's melodic semitones. The inversion and spacing remain; the chord transposes with the melody.

Known issues
- Shifted voice artifacts remain possible on breaths, very low notes and extreme intervals; the dry path is immediate inside the processor.
- Tested on one studio Mac; the Intel version has not been run on a physical Intel Mac.
- Copies before 1.14.2 used a private team update check; team copies of 1.14.1 receive 1.14.2 through it, older copies need this download once.

FAQ
How do I install it?
Open the download and double-click Install Chorale, then choose Install. It puts the Chorale app in Applications and the AU and VST3 plug-ins in your user plug-in folders. It is signed and notarized by Apple, keeps your settings and refuses to replace a newer version.
Does it add latency?
Your own voice passes through with no extra processing delay when lead tuning is off. Harmony voices need a few milliseconds of audio to work with. Your interface's buffer adds its own delay, so start at 128 samples and try 64 once your setup is stable.
How do updates work?
Chorale checks for a new version signed by us when the app opens, with no account. Update downloads the verified installer and opens it; nothing installs until you choose Install.
Which controller works with it?
Any MIDI keyboard for chords, and any controller or foot switch that sends notes or CC messages can learn the mutes, volumes and voicing recalls. A ready layout for the Novation Launch Control XL 3 is included.
